Hotel Review: Hotel Wailea, Relais & Châteaux

Introduction

Hotel Wailea exemplifies an authentic Hawaiian atmosphere and vibe that is matched by its lush greenery, tropical environment and superb 5-star service. When you are living at the Hotel Wailea, there are no other resort on the island that can match its privacy and its curated service. It’s that good.

Located on the hillside, it’s very unique in a way that it’s not utilizing any beaches as its primary selling point. In fact, its 72 room Adults Only take is very geared towards a demographic that values immense service and privacy over anything else. From a private and romantic seven course treehouse dining to vintage Porsche driving to interactive cooking classes, this is a hotel you’ll want to experience at least once in your life.

Check-In

When we arrived for check-in, we were greeted with friendly bellman and staff - they proceeded to take our luggages and escorted to check-in while serving us chilled champagne and an appreciate for our stay.

The resort has two Model X and a Land Rover Defender that can act as your shuttle across Wailea. It’s such a useful and fun service when you want to explore the area or go shopping near the Wailea Shops. In addition, they offer several free classes and perhaps the one we missed the was the outrigger canoe experience. Luckily, we were able to do this at the Andaz Maui, but when you do go - CHECK EVERYTHING that’s included for your stay! So many fun calendar events!

Below are some pictures from a quick snap from my Nikon D850 - it’s nothing as spectacular as in-person, but worth a try!

A small kitchen acts as a staple for your adventures across Maui as you collect and stock up on pineapples, papaya and other delicious snacks that you can eat back at the resort.

We were whisked away in their golf carts to our suite - cool fact, you can use the golf carts anytime to help transport your tired legs to your suite anytime. Another great perk and service that you rarely get on the island of Maui.

For the room - there wasn’t anything particularly exciting or modern. Rather, emphasis on a comfortable bed, fantastic shower pressure and an abundance of room is something that most couples can get used to. I’ll let the pictures showcase what we had at room 023.

As an adult-only resort, it is quite calm and serene around the pool area. They offer cabanas that are (OH MY) first come-first serve, so it’s worth getting up a bit earlier to claim of these bad boys. They also offer a fantastic full-bar service and has an extensive food menu for you to eat while you lounge.

Sunscreens, towels, ice water, games, blowup swans the size of a bear are all ready for you. It’s simply a great spot to just relax and read a book while tanning.

We had stellar experiences eating at Hotel Wailea before, and breakfast was no different. We were able to order quite a variety of delicious plates that me and wife simply adored. The Loco Moco and Power Bowls are a must.

If you have the money to spare, I would easily recommend Hotel Wailea as my top 2 choices in the Maui area. Our experience was as excellent as it was gonna get, and we can’t wait to visit it again in the future. With numerous awards and winners, The Hotel Wailea continues to be voted #1 ranked as Hawaii’s best hotel. Their value and service is simply one of the best on the island.
